Phrynus pulchripes (Pocock, 1894)

 

Synonyms: Hemiphrynus corderoi, Neophrynus palmatusbarbadensis, Hemiphrynus corderoi, Tarantula pulchripes

 

 

Phrynus pulchripes is known from Colombia, Venezuela, the Leeward Antilles, Trinidad, and probably Tobago. It was collected from under rotten bark and hollow logs in tropical forest, under stones and coconut husks on a beach, and from caves. The carapace is ca. 17 mm, dark brown with tawny marginal spots, narrow anterior edge and small tubercles. Identification of many species of Phrynus is not possible without close examination of their pedipalps and genitalia, and our identification of this individual from Tobago as P. pulchripes is tentative.
